2 National Survey

Tasmanian project team members lead the National Survey in year 2 and involves the design, trial and implementation of a national online survey to determine the relative importance of the factors generated by Studies on the culture of PE. The survey will consist of open and closed items that measure the need for PE and impact of emergent factors from across the ecosystem that influence PE uptake. The survey will include sections relating to:

  • demographics;

  • experiences of PE provision, regulation, design, participation and research/evaluation;

  • ratings of availability and importance of PE types (from Literature review); and

  • ratings of prevalence (how wide spread) and influence (degree) of other emergent factors (from Study 1).

Instrument design will be informed by existing surveys that collect rating information (Lyons et al., 2006; Hobbs & Campbell, 2005; Goos et al., 2021). Survey validity and integrity (Lyons et al., 2006) will ensured through initial feedback from the Steering Group and a trial in year 2 with a small representative sample. Distribution will be facilitated through subject, principal and teacher associations, and other known networks, with prospective participants contacted via email with a link to the anonymous online survey.
